SINGAPORE, 15 November 2023 – Oneberry’s CEO & Founder, Mr. Ken Pereira was invited as the one of the keynotes speakers in the TP-SII Security Industry Conference (SIC) 2023. The Security Industry Conference (SIC) 2023, organized by the Security Industry Institute (SII) of Temasek Polytechnic annually was kicked off on November 15, 2023, at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, bringing together management level representative from security agencies, in-house security employers, security associations, security union, buyers of security services, government and regulatory agencies in the security sector to discuss and showcase the latest advancements in technology and strategies for ensuring safety and security.
The SIC, themed “Unlocking the Power of Integration: Advancing Interoperability for the Security Sector” has attracted over 300 delegates from Singapore’s security industry representatives from government agencies, private security firms, technology companies, and academia. The conference aims to leverage interoperable technology to enhance security infrastructure, optimize resource allocation and improve overall operational efficiency. Furthermore, explore the possibilities of integrating various security systems, physical guarding services and facilities management services to provide a more unified and proactive security environment. The Conference was graced by Ms. Sun XueLing, Minister of State (MOS), Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development.
As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Ken gave his impactful presentation with the topic of “Security & Sustainability for the Future”. He discussed the challenges the security industry is facing, such as the shortage of resources, and the inefficiency of surveillance systems. Moreover, Mr. Ken highlighted that CCTV installations are increasing yet 98% of the CCTV cameras are not being watched. Some of the examples on sustainability for the security sector that were shared include selecting products and solutions with energy-efficient power consumption, those that tap on renewable energy and selecting products with high durability. For example, instead of having permanent CCTVs everywhere to solve issues, we could look into mobile CCTVs that are powered by clean energy such as is Fuel Cell Technology. Fuel Cell Technology converts chemical energy into electrical energy reliably, making the usage efficient and environmentally friendly. In terms of sustainability in of the future of the security industry, as customers and the society demand more advanced and effective security solutions, security industries need to adopt new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the security capabilities and services.
Ken introduced one of Oneberry’s AI solutions – ARVAS – Anomaly Recognition Video Analytics System, which is an AI-assisted video anomaly detection system that requires no input of rules or pre-configuration. By using machine learning and big data analytics, ARVAS provides a smarter and powerful way of surveillance. Ken shared his views and development on the future of the security industry with utilization of automated health check systems for sustainability in maintenance. These Automated Health Check Systems using AI can track the camera health and send alerts if any system has been tampered with, deteriorated or if the system is down.
Also, in line with sustainability, by integrating security and facility management (FM), systems could be multipurpose to perform multiple functions. For instance, CCTV cameras can be used for Security, Maintenance, Cleaning, Marketing and other purposes, whereas Robots can be used for Surveillance, Concierge, Cleaning, and other services. Meanwhile, integration allows us to share data and resources across different departments and operations.
At the conference, several new initiatives were also announced, including the launch of the Security Association Singapore Online Outcome-based Tender Generator and Repository (OBX) announced by MOS Sun.
To sum up, The SIC 2023 was a successful event that brought together the security industry and the security stakeholders to showcase products and solutions that can enhance the security capabilities and services of the security industry, as well as the achievements and contributions of the security industry. It also allowed Oneberry to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities for the security industry in the context of sustainability; highlighting the need for the security industry to adapt and innovate to meet the changing needs and expectations of the customers and society, as well as Oneberry’s position to reduce the environmental impact of the security industry.
We thank the organizers for letting Oneberry be a part of this inaugural industry event and we look forward to the next one!
